Stoddard solvent, a petroleum distillate mixture of C7-C12 hydrocarbons, consists of three major groups of components: linear and branched alkanesalso known as paraffins (30-50%); cycloalkanesalso called cycloparaffins or naphthenes (30-40%); and aromatic hydrocarbons (10-20%).
