Note: Pentachloroethane (Cat.# 30404) is provided as a separate standard in this kit in order to allow for running a system check of this standard before beginning your analyses or to provide flexibility in leaving this standard out of your calibration solutions if pentachloroethane does not need to be reported. Several issues can cause pentachloroethane to convert into tetrachloroethene during an analysis, and the resulting elevated level of tetrachloroethene and low-biased pentachloroethane response may lead to failed proficiency tests (PTs) when analyzing VOCs in solid waste by EPA Method 8260.
